Twenty-four hikers converged on the Marys Peak North Trail trailhead just after 6 a.m. Packs were weighed and instructions given. Scott Kelley was asked to try to stay in front of the group and record times at the summit. Greg Phillips and Mike Niemeyer would monitor the middle of the pack and Jeff Howell assumed the role of sweeper. The group departed the trailhead at 6:46 a.m. Radios were used to maintain contact. Overcast skies prevented any distant views but moderate temperatures, very little precipitation and nearly no wind made the trek comfortable. The misty clouds on the summit made the vegetation wet and it was cold enough to turn some of the precipitation to a fine sleet. A group picture was taken at 9 a.m. and participants started back down when ready. The sun broke through the clouds as the last hikers arrived at the trailhead. A list of participants, pack weights and hike times are listed below.
